EchoLick: Guitar Ear Training for Blues Licks
EchoLick is a guitar ear-training app. It calls a short blues lick, you echo it on
your guitar, and the microphone scores whether you landed the notes. Get the phrase
right on the first try and the next licks get progressively harder.

How does EchoLick work?
- Pick a key, a CAGED position, and a flavor (minor pentatonic, blue note, or major-minor mix).
- Listen to a one-bar lick over the 12-bar I / IV / V form.
-
Play the lick back. The mic scores pitch to about 0.45 semitones; a note hits if about
15% of its duration is in tune.
- Five first-try perfects in a row advance the stage. Three first-try misses drop a stage.
What is EchoLick?
EchoLick is a browser-based guitar ear-training app for blues licks. It plays a short
phrase, then scores what you play back through your microphone so you can practice by ear
instead of only reading tab. Get the phrase right on the first try and later licks get
progressively harder.
